The Hyundai Veloster, a three-door hatchback, is a head-turner. It looks like an economy vehicle, but in reality it's more of a performance car. It handles nicely, has wonderful suspension and steering, and has plenty of horsepower. It's also nicely appointed on the interior. However, the folks at Hyundai wanted to offer an even more exciting edition of this model, and the result is the new 2019 N version.
If you want a smaller-sized, racy-appearing transport, the 2019 Hyundai Veloster N should be on your list of vehicles to investigate. Not only does this new model come packed with performance features such as upgraded suspension, brakes, and steering, it also boasts upgraded interior accents and a long list of advanced high-tech goodies.
Performance
Few people think much about hatchbacks when the idea of sporty performance is considered. However, the new 2019 Hyundai Veloster N definitely has sports car attributes. Under the hood is a turbocharged 2.0L engine rated at 250 horsepower. Six-speed manual transmission with rev matching sends the power to the front wheels. Hyundai has already announced a soon-to-come dual-clutch automatic transmission option. You can order a performance package that boosts the output to 275 horsepower. Compare this to the engine on the regular Veloster with its rather diminutive 210-horsepower engine. The N version has a different front end than the currently offered model, with more bite that results in quicker steering response at high speed. The N model comes with four drive modes, so you can adjust well for different driving conditions and road surfaces.
Interior
The interior of the 2019 Veloster N model is pretty similar to the regular Veloster, but there are a few distinct differences. These include a sportier look to the front console and gauge design, contrast stitching, and a specially designed sport steering wheel. The bolstered sport front seats are contoured for comfort when the vehicle takes the tight turns. The folks at Hyundai redesigned the front seats to accommodate for high-speed centrifugal forcing. There's one door on the driver's side, and there are two doors on the passenger side. Entry on the passenger side is easy thanks to the wide-opening rear door. A screen display and telematics system is included as standard equipment. Smartphone app integration, steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, and a premium sound system are also included. The rest of the interior features are similar to what is found on the Veloster Value and Turbo editions. The Turbo Tech package is a consideration for those who want navigation and dual-zone climate control.
Safety
The performance suspension system means unrivaled driver control. The brakes are also performance-style, and the vehicle comes with special performance, road-hugging tires. The 2019 Veloster N comes with front airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability and traction control, and the aforementioned set of drive modes. Safety equipment varies according to the package ordered.
