Pohanka Hyundai is a member of the Pohanka Automotive Group, a dedicated partner to the communities we serve since our first location opened in downtown Washington, D.C. in 1919. We employ over 1,700 people who live and work in these communities, and for over 100 years, we're proud to pay it forward.

Washington Business Hall of Fame

The Washington Business Hall of Fame, Greater Washington's premier lifetime achievement award in business, proudly welcomed its Class of 2024 during a gala held on November 20, 2024, at The Anthem. Geoffrey Pohanka, Chairman of the Pohanka Auto Group, was among the distinguished Laureates recognized for their transformational leadership and philanthropic contributions. This honor celebrates their remarkable impact on the local economy, surrounding communities, and overall quality of life. Congratulations to Geoffrey and the entire Class of 2024 on this well-deserved recognition.

2025 Elly Doyle Park Service Awards

Pohanka Auto Group is proud to be recognized with the 2025 Eakin Philanthropy Award by the Fairfax County Park Foundation, alongside the Scott A. & Phyllis P. Crabtree Family Foundation. Pohanka is grateful to support the community spaces that inspire connection, recreation, and stewardship for generations to come.

Bike MS Nation's Capital 2025

Pohanka Auto Group is proud to support the 2025 Bike MS Nation's Capital event, continuing its dedication to raising awareness and funds for multiple sclerosis research. This year, Pohanka sponsored the Mt. Vernon Trail Blazers, who achieved an incredible milestone as the top fundraising team, raising over $95,000 in support of a world free of MS.

Ben Carson Reading Room Grand Opening

The Pohanka Automotive Group partnered with the Ben Carson Foundation to open the 300th Carson Reading Room at John Bayne Elementary, celebrating six years of supporting literacy. Mrs. Carson joined the ribbon-cutting to inspire students to embrace reading as a key to success.

2025 Leukemia Ball

The Pohanka Automotive Group raised over $27,915 through a car sweepstakes, contributing to the more than $2 million raised at the Leukemia Ball. The event supports the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s mission to cure blood cancers and improve patient lives.

2024 ArtsFairfax Awards

At the 2024 ArtsFairfax Awards in October, our own Anne Kline was recognized for her ongoing philanthropic efforts. This event is held annually to promote cultural pursuits and the arts in Fairfax County. Besides her role as Director of the Pohanka Family Office, Anne serves on the board of the Washington National Opera, The Metropolitan Opera, Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, and Lehigh University. Anne encouraged the awards ceremony’s 350-plus attendees to expand their cultural experience with a local opera performance. We’re proud of Anne for her continued positive influence on our community.

Bike MS Nation's Capital 2024

Pohanka Auto Group was proud to support the 2024 Bike MS Nation's Capital event, contributing to efforts in raising awareness and funds for multiple sclerosis research. Partnering with the Mt. Vernon Trail Blazers, Pohanka participated in the ride, which featured scenic routes through Northern Virginia, including the W&OD Trail.

Krimson Achievement Foundation 3rd Annual Golf Klassic

Pohanka proudly served as the title sponsor for the 3rd Annual Golf Klassic, hosted by the Krimson Achievement Foundation. This event brought together local leaders and golf enthusiasts to support educational initiatives and community programs.

Dog Adoption Day at Pohanka Honda

Pohanka Honda partnered with Prince George’s County Animal Services Facility & Adoption Center (ASFAC) to host our first-ever Dog Adoption Day. The event was a great success, finding forever homes for many lovable pets.

PGCPS Financial Literacy Professional Development Breakfast

The Pohanka Family Foundation sponsored a special breakfast for 42 Financial Literacy educators from Prince George’s County Public Schools at Parkdale High School. This event was an opportunity to enhance financial education in our community’s schools.

PGCPS 2024 Teacher of the Year

The Fort Washington community at Rose Valley Elementary School was abuzz with excitement as students, teachers, and staff celebrated the announcement of the 2024 Prince George’s County Teacher of the Year: their very own Reading/Language Arts teacher, Mrs. Kathy Russell. With 26 years of dedication to PGCPS, Mrs. Russell was honored with this prestigious award during a special presentation on Monday, May 20. Adding to the celebration, Pohanka Automotive Group and NAI Michael presented her with a brand new Hyundai.

John Bayne Elementary's 2024 Reading Day

Staff from Pohanka's Capitol Heights Stores participated in John Bayne Elementary’s 5th Annual Reading Day. Every student received a copy of the book that was read to them in their classroom! The event aimed to promote literacy and a love for reading among young students. Pohanka's team was thrilled to support this initiative and engage with students in the community.

Fairfax County Park Authority

Pohanka's donation of the Wonder Wagon to the Fairfax County Park Authority marks the beginning of an exciting new program. This initiative aims to participate in 150 programs this year, reaching over 3,500 community members. The fully electric, vibrantly decorated van serves as the Park Authority’s first mobile nature center, designed to deliver nature programs and engaging experiences to underserved communities across Fairfax County.

2024 Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Ball

Pohanka Auto Group proudly served as the 2024 Car Sweepstakes Sponsor for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Leukemia Ball. They donated a 3-year lease for a 2024 Acura Integra, contributing to the success of the event. The 37th Leukemia Ball raised over $2 million, supporting critical research and patient services.

2024 NADA Junior Achievement Award

Geoff Pohanka, serving as the 2023 NADA Chairman, presented an award to Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada. During the annual National Automotive Dealers Association (NADA) Show in Las Vegas, NADA announced a three-year sponsorship with Junior Achievement, starting with a $50,000 donation towards the construction of the new Finance Park.

2024 NOVA Auto Show

On April 27th, the 2024 Auto Show was held at Northern Virginia Community College's Alexandria Campus in partnership with NOVA and the Automotive Technology Program.

Grand Re-Opening

On April 25th we hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony and party for customers and staff in honor of our recent Grand Re-Opening. Everyone enjoyed food and beverages, and a number of folks took advantage of the special offers we were running during the event and bought new vehicles! There were great door prizes as well, with lucky attendees heading home with new iPads and other exciting stuff. But it wasn’t just about the new building: we also honored Sales & Leasing Consultant Charles Bivins, who recently marked his 30th anniversary with Pohanka. Thank you, Charles, for three decades – and counting – of daily dedication!

PGCPS 2023 Teacher of the Year

Kenmoor Early Childhood Center educator Mary Truman is the 2023 Prince George's County Teacher of the Year. We take immense pride in presenting Mary with a well-deserved 3-year lease for a brand-new Hyundai Kona in recognition of her unwavering dedication.

Bayne Elementary

Pohanka Automotive Group donates books, backpacks and school supplies to help children from John Bayne Elementary School prepare for the school year.

NSLM Polo Classic

Proceeds from the NSLM Polo Classic presented by MARS EQUESTRIAN™ benefit the NSLM in its mission to preserve, promote, and share the literature, art, and culture of equestrian, angling, and field sports as well as advocate for the conservation of open space and waterways crucial to these sports.

PGCPS 2022 Teacher of the Year
