2021 Hyundai Elantra vs 2021 Nissan Sentra near Washington, DC

2021 Hyundai Elantra shown above with available features.
The 2021 Hyundai Elantra has rolled onto our sales floor, and it’s already making waves in the automotive industry with its enticing design and impressive powertrain. Our team at Pohanka Hyundai of Capitol Heights would like to highlight these features by comparing it with some stiff competition, the 2021 Nissan Sentra! Meanwhile, check out our incentives page if you want to get an even better deal.
Exterior
As it's the first thing onlookers will see when you drive down to Rock Creek Park, it only makes sense to start by checking out the design of each of these compact cars. Kicking things off is the 2021 Elantra’s standard LED Daytime Running Lights that ensure you make an impression regardless of the time. However, to get a comparable set of illuminators on the 2021 Sentra, you’d need to pay extra. Turning your attention to the side mirrors that border each of these vehicles. The Hyundai Elantra offers standard dual-power fold-away components so you can fit into tight parking spots. While the Nissan Sentra has power-folding mirrors, they lack this convenient fold-away function. Both of these vehicles have gorgeous designs with ample flair, but the Elantra takes the cake in terms of functionality.
Performance
Looks are important, but it’s also imperative that we discuss the capabilities of each of these models’ engines. When you look under the hood of the 2021 Hyundai Elantra, you’ll find a roaring 2.0L 4-cylinder engine rumbling at its core. And even though the Sentra boasts a similar powertrain, the Elantra utilizes its energy much more efficiently. When you’re making your daily trek to work, you can expect to get a phenomenal 33/43/37 MPG city/hwy/combined1 in the Elantra. You’ll only be able to net up to 29/39/33 MPG city/hwy/combined2 as the driver of a 2021 Sentra. On top of all this, the Elantra has standard Drive Mode Select, which lets you toggle between Normal, Sport, and Smart functions. If you want to customize your journey in the Sentra with a similar feature, you’d need to opt for a higher trim.
Interior
To wrap things up, let’s hop inside the cabin of each of these compact cars to get a feel for the comfort they can provide. Both models offer an optional 6-way power driver’s chair to relieve you of the stress of the day in a matter of minutes. However, the Elantra has this feature as standard on its highest trim, whereas the Sentra keeps it as an extra-cost option across all editions, even its top trim. Also, when you want to charge your smartphone or tablet, you’ll be happy to know that the 2021 Elantra has two standard USB ports in the cabin for your convenience. Unfortunately, one of your passengers might need to wait their turn in the Sentra, because only one of these ports comes standard inside this model. You’ll have all you could ask for inside the Elantra!
Now that you’re aware that the 2021 Hyundai Elantra vs 2021 Nissan Sentra near Washington, DC, ends up in the favor of the Elantra, come test it out at Pohanka Hyundai of Capitol Heights. Our rave reviews attest to the extraordinary experience our other customers have with us, so swing by soon!

“ ★★★★★ You’ll Want to Read This One to the End In June, my daughter was involved in an accident caused by an uninsured driver, and her car was totaled. Understandably, we were anxious to find a replacement as quickly as possible. We considered Mazda, Toyota, Honda, Ford, and Hyundai. After test-driving the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Limited, my daughter knew it was the vehicle she wanted. Since we live in Fairfax, we contacted and visited nearly every Hyundai dealership in Northern Virginia searching for a white Tucson Hybrid Limited with a gray interior. Unfortunately, several dealerships told us over the phone that they had the vehicle, only for us to arrive and hear that it had “just sold”—or, in some cases, learn that they had never had it at all and were simply trying to get us into the showroom. Sheehy Hyundai was the most disappointing. They assured us they had the vehicle, but after we made the drive and explained the exact color combination we wanted, they quickly dismissed us when they realized it was not on their lot. Every dealership seemed interested only in selling us something they already had in inventory. That completely changed when we arrived at Pohanka Hyundai. Rod warmly welcomed us and genuinely listened to what we were looking for: a white Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Limited with a gray interior. Instead of trying to convince us to settle for another vehicle, Rod and Luis Lemus immediately went to work locating the exact Tucson my daughter wanted. Within 30 minutes, they told us they had found one and could have it ready for us that evening. My daughter completed the paperwork and applied for 100% financing online. When we returned that evening, the vehicle was ready. We completed the transaction with Joann Nolta in approximately 10 minutes, and Rod was waiting out front to personally deliver the car. The entire process was professional, efficient, honest, and completely stress-free. Rod, Luis, and Joann turned what had been a frustrating search into one of the easiest car-buying experiences we have ever had. I wish buying a new vehicle were this simple at every dealership. Pohanka Hyundai truly earned this five-star review. ”
