2017 Hyundai Santa Fe vs 2017 Honda Pilot near Bowie, MD

*Vehicle shown above is of the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe in Circuit Silver.

The midsize SUV class is stocked with an assortment of vehicles, all of which seem to boast the same amenities. We at Pohanka Hyundai are here to set the record straight on which one of two of the top contenders prevails against the other. With our comparison of the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe vs 2017 Honda Pilot near Bowie, MD, we see that the Santa Fe effortlessly takes the win.
In the first section of this battle of midsize SUVs, we’ll take a look at conveniences in the cabin. While both vehicles host standard rear seat vents for your backseat passengers, only the Santa Fe comes standard with dual front automatic temperature control, so both you and your front rider can customize the climate to your individual preference. If you’re in the Pilot, just an air conditioning system comes standard in the base trim. In the back of the Hyundai Santa Fe, you’ll also have access to a standard under-floor storage compartment, which is sure to come in handy when you want to keep valuables concealed. Unfortunately, this feature is not offered at all in the Pilot.
When it comes to cargo, having optimal support for all of your necessities is crucial, especially for a midsize SUV. Great for transporting longer or larger items, the 2017 Santa Fe comes standard with roof rack side rails – cross rails are available in every trim as an accessory. The Honda Pilot, on the other hand, only offers roof rails in its top two trims. Another aspect that we’ll cover in this matchup of the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe vs 2017 Honda Pilot near Bowie, MD, is the liftgate and its level of accessibility. While the Pilot does offer a power tailgate in higher trims, the Santa Fe takes it a step further. Available in each model is the hands-free Smart Liftgate, which automatically opens when it senses the Proximity Key within three feet of the vehicle for three seconds.
To cater to a variety of weather, Hyundai engineers outfitted the Santa Fe with a couple of key elements to assist in combatting less-than-ideal conditions. As standard, the 2017 Santa Fe equips LED Daytime Running Lights, which illuminate the road ahead at all times. The Honda Pilot, however, does not offer Daytime Running Lights on any of its trims. Furthermore, while the 2017 Pilot does boast heated side mirrors, they are only available in top models. The Hyundai Santa Fe, though, is outfitted with a heating function on both of its side mirrors across all trims. When the temperature dips below freezing, you’ll be thankful for the optional windshield wiper de-icer in the Santa Fe – an amenity not offered at all in the Pilot.
We at Pohanka Hyundai all agree that the Santa Fe is the midsize SUV that hits it out of the park in this battle between the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe vs 2017 Honda Pilot near Bowie, MD. Visit us today at 1770 Ritchie Station Court in Capitol Heights, MD, to take it out for a spin to experience it firsthand!

“ ★★★★★ You’ll Want to Read This One to the End In June, my daughter was involved in an accident caused by an uninsured driver, and her car was totaled. Understandably, we were anxious to find a replacement as quickly as possible. We considered Mazda, Toyota, Honda, Ford, and Hyundai. After test-driving the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Limited, my daughter knew it was the vehicle she wanted. Since we live in Fairfax, we contacted and visited nearly every Hyundai dealership in Northern Virginia searching for a white Tucson Hybrid Limited with a gray interior. Unfortunately, several dealerships told us over the phone that they had the vehicle, only for us to arrive and hear that it had “just sold”—or, in some cases, learn that they had never had it at all and were simply trying to get us into the showroom. Sheehy Hyundai was the most disappointing. They assured us they had the vehicle, but after we made the drive and explained the exact color combination we wanted, they quickly dismissed us when they realized it was not on their lot. Every dealership seemed interested only in selling us something they already had in inventory. That completely changed when we arrived at Pohanka Hyundai. Rod warmly welcomed us and genuinely listened to what we were looking for: a white Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Limited with a gray interior. Instead of trying to convince us to settle for another vehicle, Rod and Luis Lemus immediately went to work locating the exact Tucson my daughter wanted. Within 30 minutes, they told us they had found one and could have it ready for us that evening. My daughter completed the paperwork and applied for 100% financing online. When we returned that evening, the vehicle was ready. We completed the transaction with Joann Nolta in approximately 10 minutes, and Rod was waiting out front to personally deliver the car. The entire process was professional, efficient, honest, and completely stress-free. Rod, Luis, and Joann turned what had been a frustrating search into one of the easiest car-buying experiences we have ever had. I wish buying a new vehicle were this simple at every dealership. Pohanka Hyundai truly earned this five-star review. ”
