2026 Hyundai Santa Fe
The Hyundai Santa Fe has long been a favorite among buyers in the midsized SUV market, thanks to its winning blend of comfort, capability, and value. The model was introduced in 2000 as Hyundai’s inaugural crossover for the North American market and quickly earned a reputation for its practicality and all-around appeal. It has since evolved to meet the demands of today’s families, with a full suite of standard advanced safety features, versatile seating options, and cutting-edge amenities, all while maintaining its commitment to quality and reliability.
For the 2026 model year, Hyundai has made several updates to enhance the Santa Fe’s standing in the competitive three-row utility vehicle segment. A more conventional eight-speed automatic transmission replaces the outgoing model’s dual-clutch, while the luxurious Calligraphy trim gains elegant Pecan Brown Nappa leather upholstery. The Limited trim now has standard second-row captain’s chairs (a bench seat is available as an option), and both the Limited and XRT get dual wireless phone chargers. The XRT’s off-road capability also gets a boost with an enhanced Terrain Mode that has settings for Mud, Snow, and Sand. To top it off, third-row passengers in the SEL and XRT trims will appreciate the addition of USB ports.
Trims, Powertrain, and Fuel Economy
The ‘26 Santa Fe can fit up to seven passengers and is offered in five trims: SE, SEL, XRT, Limited, and Calligraphy. Beneath the hood of each is a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out a confident 277 horsepower and 311 lb.-ft. of torque; it’s paired with a traditional eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, while Hyundai’s advanced HTRAC all-wheel drive system (standard with the XRT) is available for enhanced traction, stability, and control in varying road conditions.
All trims include Drive Mode Select, enabling drivers to adjust performance for specific driving situations. The adventure-ready XRT adds an exclusive Terrain Mode with optimized settings for off-road conditions. With the proper equipment, most trims can tow up to 3,500 pounds, while the XRT boosts capability to a stalwart 4,500 pounds.
With FWD, most ‘26 Santa Fe trims achieve an EPA-estimated 20 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. AWD changes fuel economy slightly to 20 mpg city/28 mpg highway, while the rugged, AWD-only XRT returns 19 mpg city/25 mpg highway.
Notable Amenities
The SE has proximity keyless entry YES Essentials stain-resistant cloth upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 60/40-split flat-folding second-row bench seat, a 50/50-split folding third-row seat, a center armrest with two-level storage, push-button ignition, a rear-seat quiet mode, four high-power USB charge ports, two 12-volt outlets, and an underfloor storage compartment in the cargo area. The exterior showcases LED lighting fixtures (headlights, daytime running lights, and taillights), heated side mirrors, a hands-free liftgate, and 18-inch alloy wheels. Those who select the SEL will get more comfort and tech, including H-Tex leatherette upholstery, heated front seats, a power driver’s seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, third-row AC vents and USB ports, Digital Key 2, wireless phone charging, and LED turn-signal indicators on the side mirrors and roof rails.
The XRT caters to adventure seekers with its exclusive black exterior cladding, dark-finished 18-inch alloy wheels, all-terrain tires, and a special Terrain drive mode for optimizing performance off the pavement. It also features a C-pillar assist handle, a sunroof, a 115-volt power outlet, Hyundai Pay, and an additional wireless phone charger. The Limited blends luxury with practicality, retaining most XRT features but swapping the off-road gear for more premium touches. Its highlights include leather upholstery, heated/ventilated front seats, a power passenger’s seat, driver’s position memory, heated second-row captain’s chairs (this reduces seating to six), a heated steering wheel, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, power-folding side mirrors, rear sunshades (manual), a mélange headliner, ambient interior lighting, a dual-pane sunroof, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and 20-inch wheels.
At the top of the lineup, the Calligraphy doubles down on refinement with Nappa leather upholstery, a superior driver’s seat with leg-cushion extension, a 12-inch head-up display, a frameless digital rearview mirror, an eco-suede microfiber headliner, rear express up/down windows, and distinctive 21-inch dark-finished wheels. It also brings back the black exterior accents and C-pillar assist handle seen in the XRT.
Advanced Safety Features
Every ‘26 Santa Fe is equipped with Hyundai SmartSense advanced safety and driver-assistance technologies. This suite consists of blind-spot collision warning, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, front and rear parking sensors, rear occupant alert, forward collision-avoidance assist (with pedestrian, cyclist, and junction turning detection), adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane keeping assist, driver attention warning, safe exit assist, and lane following assist. The SEL and higher also get advanced rear occupant alert and forward attention warning.
The XRT and above upgrade to navigation-based adaptive cruise control with curve management and Highway Driving Assist for greater convenience during long drives. Those who opt for the Limited will get side parking sensors, Remote Smart Parking Assist, a live-feed blind-spot view monitor, and a surround-view monitor. At the lineup's peak, the Calligraphy provides the most comprehensive safety suite, featuring blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, advanced forward collision-avoidance assist (with evasive steering and lane change assist), and Highway Driving Assist 2, ensuring exceptional protection and peace of mind on every journey.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The '26 Santa Fe is set up with a high-resolution 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, HD Radio, and Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming. Dynamic voice recognition is added at the XRT level. The SE, SEL, and XRT get an unbranded sound system and an array of speakers, while the Limited and Calligraphy go upscale with a 12-speaker Bose arrangement.
