2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5
The 2025 IONIQ 5 should help Hyundai hold on to the title of America’s Most Awarded EV Lineup with a
host of noteworthy upgrades. For starters, the new IONIQ 5 is equipped with a Tesla North American
Charging Standard (NACS) port, doubling the number of DC fast-charging stations available to IONIQ
owners. Next, Hyundai’s engineers increased the battery capacity of both standard-range and
long-range trims, thereby raising their maximum driving ranges. Hyundai also acted on customer
feedback and added a standard rear windshield wiper, retooled the interior HVAC controls, and
repositioned the wireless charging pad for easier access.
Although these practical updates are significant, the most exciting change to the IONIQ 5 lineup is
the addition of the XRT trim level, which comes with standard all-wheel drive, a +23mm suspension
lift with unique tuning, and exclusive XRT styling. The other trims have also been refreshed, as
Hyundai restyled the front and rear bumpers, made the new wheel designs more aerodynamic, modified
the rear spoiler, and added three new paint colors: Atlas White Matte, Celadon Gray Matte, and
Ecotronic Gray Matte. Inside, the SEL and above now have heated rear seats, and all trims get a
redesigned steering wheel. Plus, the equipment list for the SE Standard Range now includes Smart
Cruise Control 2, Hyundai Digital Key 2, and wireless versions of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Trims, Powertrains, and Charging
The 2025 IONIQ 5 gives buyers a choice of five trims: SE Standard Range, SE, SEL, XRT, and Limited. The standard rear-wheel drive (RWD) powertrain consists of a single electric motor, a high-voltage battery, and single-speed reduction gear transmission. The available all-wheel drive (AWD) setup has two electric motors, a high-voltage battery, and the same transmission. AWD is standard on the XRT and optional on the SE, SEL, and Limited. The SE Standard Range is offered strictly with RWD.
Standard Features
Performance is the only thing that differentiates the SE Standard Range and SE, as both trims are equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels, a hands-free smart power liftgate with auto-open and adjustable height setting, an acoustic front windshield, heated side mirrors, automatic-retracting flush door handles, LED exterior lighting, proximity key entry, dual-zone automatic temperature control, synthetic-leather wrapping for the steering wheel, stain-resistant cloth upholstery, heated front seating, an 8-way power driver seat, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and three USB ports in both rows.
Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology
The SmartSense suite is Hyundai’s network of advanced safety technologies to help optimize driver awareness and accident prevention. Every ‘25 IONIQ 5 comes with high beam assist, forward attention warning, forward collision-avoidance assist with car/pedestrian/cyclist detection and junction turning, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, driver attention warning, highway driving assist, navigation-based Smart Cruise Control 2 with stop and go, speed limit assist, blind-spot collision warning, lane following assist, lane keeping assist with haptic feedback in the steering wheel, parking distance warning, rear occupant alert, and safe exit assist.
Infotainment and Connectivity
All ‘25 IONIQ trims are outfitted with a 12.3-inch color touchscreen, dynamic voice recognition, Bluetooth connectivity, wireless Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and onboard navigation and traffic flow via data from HD Radio. Hyundai Pay and Bluelink+ connected car services are also standard. The XRT and Limited are loaded with a top-quality Bose audio system.
